Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel
The second edition of ART STAGE Jakarta will take place from 11 to 13 August 2017 at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.
As the bridge between the global art world and Southeast Asia's largest and most dynamic contemporary art scene, ART STAGE Jakarta is the world’s platform to discover and engage with Indonesia’s artists, collectors and galleries. Like its sister fair in Singapore, ART STAGE Jakarta, offers audiences the most comprehensive and up-to-date overview of Southeast Asia’s fast-growing contemporary art scenes.
The inaugural ART STAGE Jakarta took place from 5-7 August 2016 at the Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel.
The fair welcomed 49 selected galleries from Indonesia and beyond and received strong support of Indonesian galleries, collectors and key opinion leaders.
Expose - The Collectors' Show
With the intertwining global art markets today, art collectors are increasingly under the spotlight. Art Stage Jakarta’s collectors' show titled Expose was an exhibition featuring works by leading artists from Indonesia, the region and the world on loan from some of Indonesia's most prominent private art collections. Curated by Enin Supriyanto, the exhibition was a hommage to the spirit of art collecting which was first ignited by President Sukarno and continues today with the new generation of collectors. It underscored the importance of the role of art collectors in Indonesia and how they have contributed to the growth of the visual art scene in the country.
Expose featured artworks from the collections of Alex Tedja, Deddy Kusuma, Dr. Melani Setiawan, Rudy Akili, Tom Tandio and Wiyu Wahono. They represented at least two generations of art collectors in Indonesia, displaying the different personal collecting preferences through various artworks. The exhibition included paintings, sculptures, installation, photography as well as works that incorporate the most current state of digital technology and bio-electronic elements.

The Affandi Show
Affandi - The Human Face is a tribute to Indonesia's big expressionist master and humanist painter. Expressing the meaning of emotional experience rather than physical reality, for Affandi painting was "panggilan jiwa", a call of the soul. Applying the paint directly from the tube and using his hands instead of a pencil, he succeeded to transfer his feelings on the canvas and to create paintings of unique sincerity and human compassion.
Affandi - The Human Face, an exhibition curated by our President Lorenzo Rudolf, featured 17 masterpieces from the private collections of Caecil Papadimitriou, Alex Tedja, Deddy Kusuma and Rudy Akili.
Affandi - The Human Face is sponsored by Sotheby's.
